Being a parent is a wild ride. One minute, you’re basking in the heart-melting sweetness of an unsolicited hug, and the next, you’re trying to figure out how someone managed to get peanut butter on the ceiling. But through all the chaos, exhaustion, and occasional existential crises in the school drop-off line, being your dad is my greatest joy.

Jameson and Adalyn, you two are the reason I wake up (often way earlier than I’d like), the reason I laugh, and the reason I’ve considered investing in noise-canceling headphones. Here are 10 reasons why I love being your parent.

Jameson, your ability to deliver a perfectly timed sarcastic comment is something to behold. And Adalyn, your dramatic reenactments of daily life (especially when things don’t go your way) deserve an award. Honestly, life would be so boring without your combined comedic genius.

3. You Teach Me Patience (Whether I Like It or Not)
