Dear Jameson and Addie,
As your dad—and The Money Dad—there’s something I want to share with you that’s bigger than just numbers or dollars. It’s about the life I dream for you and the lessons I hope you’ll carry as you grow.
Money is a tool, not a goal. It’s something that can help you live a life filled with freedom, opportunity, and generosity. But it’s also something that can feel heavy if it’s not handled wisely. That’s why I want you to learn to respect it, understand it, and use it in ways that bring joy to your life and to others.
Jameson, you’re already earning your way through refereeing hockey games, and Addie, I see your determination in everything you do. Both of you have what it takes to build a life where money works for you—not the other way around.
Here are a few things I want you to always remember:
1. Save before you spend. Your future self will thank you for every dollar you set aside today.
2. Invest in what matters. Whether it’s experiences, education, or people, especially yourself, put your time and money into things that make your life richer in ways that don’t have a price tag.
3. Give generously. There’s no better feeling than using what you have to help someone else.
4. Chase your passions. Money will follow when you do something you truly love and give it your best.
But more than anything, I want you to know that you are enough, no matter what’s in your bank account. Money is a tool, but it will never define your worth. You’re both priceless to me, and I’m so proud of the people you’re becoming.
Whenever you need advice—whether it’s about money or anything else—you know where to find me. I’ll always be here to guide you, support you, and cheer you on.
I love you both more than words,
Dad
(The Money Dad)
